THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE
Book by Tom and Jack Megan
Music and Lyrics by Tom Megan
Additional Music and Lyrics by Jack Megan

It’s the 1960s, and Billy McPherson, the new kid at parochial school, is getting a fine medieval education. When the beguiling young drama teacher, Sister Katherine, sweeps into his life, he falls head-over-heels in love, resolving to become pope and to change the rules of the Church so that they can one day marry. This charming, funny new musical about first love, obsession and the search for miracles.

THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE is a winner of the 2013 Richards Rodgers Award!

THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE is also a winner of the 2012 New Harmony Prize. A concert reading took place Feb. 18, 2013 at Curtain Call in Stamford, Conn.

THE KID WHO WOULD BE POPE was originally produced at Creative Arts at Park, in Brookline, Mass. In the Fall of 2011, it had a sold-out run as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
